Taking off and landing

Q: Is this bird about to spread its wings and fly, or is it touching down after a journey?

Funny, how often an ending and a beginning are the same . . .

A: A snapped this photo as the bird—tired of trying to balance on the point of this light standard—spread its wings and began a new journey.

When I retired from teaching, I thought life as I knew it was ending. and it was.
But, then, miracle of miracles, I learned to blog which opened up a whole new world of friendly connections and a path to publishing my memoir.

The bird image is just perfect for this blog, Arlene! 🙂

I have come to believe that there is no such thing as ending. Something is always born anew, and usually it’s something better than we can even dream for ourselves. Fantastic, that.

Good question. It’s all in how you see it, isn’t it? I like to finish things more than start them so I’ll say the bird is landing, entitled to a bit of a rest.

Interesting. There is a wonderful feeling of accomplishment that goes along with finishing. There’s also the incomparable excitement of just starting out with something too. I don’t know if I could choose which I like better. Given the number of half-finished projects around me, I think it must be the starting out! I’ll have to work on finishing . . .

Yes, sometimes it’s hard to recognize which is which. Sometimes we don’t even know we’re at the beginning of something when we’re so focused on an ending. It’s a fun world.
