“. . . Show me the truth about myself no matter how beautiful it is.”
—A Benedictine nun, as found in Wake Up to the Joy of You by Agapi Stassinopoulos
This is the scene outside my window today. We are snowed under. Homebound.

Some would say this is the ugly truth of winter. I say it is the beautiful truth.
A time for an in-breath. A time to take full advantage of my word for the year: FOCUS.
A time to seek out and, more importantly, believe my own beautiful truths.
I wouldn’t mind being homebound with a serene scene like that!
I love a good homebound day. So refreshing. But all good things come to an end. Life resumes today.
It’s lovely, but we didn’t get even so much as a flurry, although the rest of the province of Ontarion was blanketed with anywhere from 30-50 cm.
Wow, I can’t believe you didn’t get any! That is amazing. Weather patterns are very interesting. It is snowing again here – but not as much as on Monday. I’ll still have to go to work!
I’ve never seen a January with as little snow as this year, but I’ll take it!
I have Agapi Stassinopoulos’s book and her advice is such a good way think about life. I like your photo, but I enjoy the muted colors of winter. They give pause. I like that.
I love the sight of evergreen branches laden with snow. Beautiful. Muted is the perfect word for the colours and the sound when there is this much snow.
As I read your post with the beatuiful winter wonderland outside your window (it’s probably easier to admire it when we haven’t seen snow here in years 🙂 ), I’m reminded of Vanna’s Bonta’s words “The beauty you see in me is a reflection of you.” Thank you for the shift in FOCUS.
A lovely quote. Thank you! There are many people who don’t care for winter, so they don’t love the snow, but I love winter. I love the way the cold air hits my face when I open the door. I love skiing and skating and walking in the woods when the evergreen branches are laden with white. Beautiful and so energizing. It’s all about wearing the proper clothing.
